Jesus’ Prayer
April 1, 2010
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also
for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be
one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us
so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the
glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one. I in them and
you in me: May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you
sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I want
those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory
you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.”
John 17:20-24.
In this passage, we find Jesus speaking about those who believe in him, through
the word. May we be one, as you Jesus, are one in the Father. Jesus
said, “May the world believe that you sent me, and what you have given me, I
have given them also that they may be one.” In verse 24, we find Jesus
speaking to the Father about his desire that we will be with him in glory.
In the world today, as believers, we are one in Christ Jesus. We can enter
his presence and have fellowship with Him twenty-four hours a day, seven days a
week. What a wonderful time to be alive, and what a wonderful Savior we
have, for one day we will be with Him in His glory.
Father, I pray in Jesus name, that you will open the hearts and minds of all
people in our community and teach us that we are one in Christ. We thank
you that we can have access to You, through salvation in Jesus Christ, Your Son,
and come boldly into Your presence, because of Jesus our Savior and Redeemer.
Thank you Father, and thank you Jesus, for making all this possible, for as it
says in Your word that, “all things are possible through Jesus Christ, our
Lord.”
Amen.
