Jesus’ prayer                                                       April 2, 2010

John 17:25-26    “O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me.  I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.” (NLT)

PartY LINES

Remember the telephone “party lines” of years ago, when everyone shared the same line and yes, sometimes we even heard the conversations of our neighbors?

Imagine listening in on the conversation between Jesus and His Father and marveling at the faithfulness of the Son to His Father and His disciples.  We marvel at the unending, unconditional love of both the Father and the Son, giving of themselves freely so that their precious family can be a part of their glory.  All of this focuses on the glorious name of the Father.

If we want to know God’s will for our lives, we can listen to Jesus’ words and know they reveal God’s truth.  Jesus reveals God’s heart, character, compassion, love, grace and holiness to us by being who He is.  Our prayer should be that God continues to reveal Himself to us as we seek to know Him more fully through Jesus.

It is a gift to listen in on the conversations between Jesus and God.  When we hear the requests made by our Savior, we can live in the promise that they are fulfilled at Easter’s empty tomb.
