Moses’ Prayer
February 22, 2010

Exodus:32:31-35
31. So Moses went back to the LORD and said, "Oh, what a great sin these
people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold. 32 But
now, please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have
written."
33
The LORD replied to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my
book. 34 Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my
angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will
punish them for their sin."
35
And the LORD struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the
calf Aaron had made.
The
scripture that we reflected on was about how Moses went to the Lord and asked
forgiveness for those who were worshipping the golden calf.
At the present time being so busy as we are we tend to forget
how important it is to go to church and worship the Lord. We work hard all week
at our jobs. We think that the weekend is ours. It is the only days that we can
sleep in, the only days we have to ourselves. No one is going to tell us what we
should do with our weekend off. After all. We earned it. What we should be doing
is spending a little more time reflecting on our faith and less time on TV or
whatever is distracting us in our daily lives. Making sure that we thank the
Lord for all that he has given us.
Our
prayer for the community:
Oh
Lord, open our hearts and eyes to see the needs and help others. Make us more
aware of your blessings, helping to keep us on the path to heaven. Amen.
