David’s Prayer for Thanksgiving                                                           February 27, 2010

2 Samuel 7:18-19

Then King David went in and sat before the LORD and prayed, “Who am I, O Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?  And now, Sovereign Lord, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving me a lasting dynasty!  Do you deal with everyone this way, O Sovereign Lord?

David is told that God promises to provide a permanent homeland safe from enemies.  David is also told that many blessings will be upon Himself and His descendents.

A safe homeland….HOME

Blessings upon descendents…FAMILY

One could not ask for much more than a safe place to call home and a well cared for family.  Too often these are taken for granted.

Dear Lord,

This Lenten season I pray that people/families will cherish each moment together, slow down, and savor God’s blessings upon us.  Amen.
