David’s Prayer
March 11,2010
“Create
in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of my salvation and grant me a willing spirit to
sustain me.”
Psalm
51:10-12
In order to be a better servant, we need to examine the condition of our hearts.
Are they hearts of stone, stubborn and self-willed or hearts of flesh,
pliable and responsive? In order to
receive a clean heart it says in Ezekiel 18:31 we need to “Rid yourselves of all
offenses you have committed and get a new heart and a new spirit.” Therefore we need to humble ourselves and confess and repent
of our sins……disobedience, bitterness, unforgiveness, passing judgment,
resentment, gossip, anger, pride, envy, poor attitudes, bad habits, greed, and
hurtful words.
Ephesians 4:30 says, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you
have been sealed for the day of redemption.”
It grieves God when we refuse to change our sinful ways.
We have to change our thinking, our actions, and anything that causes us to
stumble. It’s difficult to do, but
once we confess and repent, the barriers that sin had put between us and the
Lord are torn down. We will have
his Holy Spirit to guide us and help us to stand firm in the face of temptation.
We then can take joy in our salvation.
We will have freedom from sin, death, and all the powerful things that
have held us captive. We have been sealed by his Spirit and He will never leave us.
We will be able to clearly hear His voice when he calls and willingly do
the work he’s called us to do.
Lord I
thank you for your love and forgiveness.
I ask you to please search our hearts and reveal to us any offensive way
within us. Help us to see the sins
we need to confess and repent, so we can be of better service to you Lord.
“Create in us a pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within us.
Do not cast us from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from us.
Restore to us the joy of our salvation and grant us a willing spirit to
sustain us.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
