Jesus’ prayer                                                                      March 26, 2010

John 11:41-44

41So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."

43When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" 44The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go."

Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead in this scripture.  Jesus pray thanking God for hearing him.  He knew that God always hears him but said this for the benefit of the people standing there.  He wanted them to believe that it was God who sent him.
This scripture is about faith in his power.  If miracles were need for all of us to have faith then that would be sad.  Raising Lazarus from his death in the grave was indeed a miracle.  We can have faith without miracles too.
