Jesus’ prayer
March 27, 2010
John 12: 27 – 28
Jesus has spoken in these verses about the agony He
has over his impending death. He
knows that His time on earth is nearly over and He prays to his Heavenly Father,
“Glorify Your Name”. After hearing
a voice from heaven, Jesus realizes that God has glorified His name and will
again when Jesus dies on the cross and is raised from the dead, for our sins so
that we will have everlasting life by His grace.
Life comes by death. When a
seed dies it produces fruit. This
principle is true not only in nature, but it is also true spiritually.
Jesus spoke of Himself in the grain of wheat.
His death would produce much fruit and would result in many living for
God.
I agonize at times, over tasks in life.
I pray and reflect about how my completing these tasks can make a
difference in people’s lives. Our
tasks are never over when we can make a difference in others, and our own lives.
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, I praise you for sacrificing your life so that by
your grace we can have everlasting life.
Give me the strength and guidance to do good works.
Amen
