Elijah’s prayer
March 4, 2010
I Kings 17:20-23
20
Then he cried out to the LORD, "O LORD my God, have you brought tragedy also
upon this widow I am staying with, by causing her son to die?" 21
Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried to the LORD, "O
LORD my God, let this boy's life return to him!"
22
The LORD heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived.
23 Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into
the house. He gave him to his mother and said, "Look, your son is alive!"
Elijah, a man of God cried out to the Lord when the widow’s
son was without breath. God heard Elijah and brought healing to the Widow’s son.
A widow in Elijah’s time needed her son to care for her.
We also cry out to the Lord and he hears us and answers our
prayer. Let us look around our community and see all the prayers that have been
answered! Let us keep praying our everyday prayers of thanksgiving, faith and
healing. .
Dear Lord; Guide us in all that we do and keep our community
in your favor. Lord God help us to understand where change is happening, keep us
calm and loving to one another. We pray for all we need to serve, especially the
people of Haiti. Help us to be people of God, and faithful to your word like
Elijah. In your Holy Name we pray. Amen.
