Jehoshaphat‘s prayer                                                                              March 8, 2010

“O our God, will you not judge them?  For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us.  We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.”

   2 Chronicles 20:12.

King Jehoshaphat cried out to God in this prayer in 2 Chronicle 20:12, admitting things are out of control and his people cannot stand up to the mighty force against them.  They don’t know what to do but the King states that their eyes are upon God.  We face many enemies in our world today, such as illness, recession, unemployment, natural disasters, war, terrorism, addictions, family breakdowns, church separation and the list goes on.  These situations are beyond our control, so as we turn to God’s word for direction, we are again reminded to keep our eyes on our creator and feed on His faithfulness.  He is in control and we know His perfect plan is not always our plan.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for your faithfulness and your steadfast love for us.  Unite us as a community as we face these mighty enemies.  Help us to stand firm on the absolute truths of your teachings.  Help us to love and not to judge every person in our path, as we must fix our eyes on you.

In Jesus name, Amen
